Kauai's Premier Equestrian Center
Whether your 8 or 80, beginner or advanced rider, ride Western or English,
we can help you and your horse become a more effective TEAM.
Natural Horsemanship has seen phenomenal growth in the last few years.
Using techniques developed by true masters like Ray Hunt and Tom Dorrance and further refined by great horseman like John Lyons, Pat Parreli, Buck Branneman and Harry Whitney, horse people all over the world are achieving amazing success by communicating with their horse on the horses level.
As in any team event it is imperative that solid communication be established between all members of the team. True communication can only be accomplished through a free flow of information that is based on mutual respect.
Realizing that a horses brain is about the size of a plum, and a humans brain is the size of a grapefruit, it only makes sense that it’s a lot easier for us to learn to speak the horses language than for our horse learn to speak any human language.
We also need to realize that while we all live on the same planet, we still live in two different worlds.
We are the predators, they are the prey.
While this makes little difference to us in our world, it makes a HUGE difference to our horses in their world.
Every horseman should read When Worlds Collide. The most informative article we've seen on this subject. Written by Karen E.N. Hayes DVM, MS, and published in Aug 96 Horse and Rider Magazine
